From student to company boss: the founding of Aquatuning
Summer 2002: Nathanael Draht builds his own water cooling system in his student flat to protect his computer from the high temperatures. What works for his own gaming PC could also work for others, right? For three months he tests and optimises his prototype, then dares to enter the market without any significant start-up capital. The target group? Ordinary gamers with average PCs. At that time, you had to budget at least €250 for a complete set of copper cooling. Aquatuning, on the other hand, was able to offer water cooling systems for less than €100 and thus quickly fill a gap in the market.
The Aquatuning Shop: Customers from all over the world
CPU water cooling was soon followed by a range of other products and we expanded our range to include radiators, pumps, tanks, hoses and other accessories. From a range of 65 products in 2003, more than 4,800 items have been added over the years. At the beginning of 2003, the first Aquatuning website went online and we were able to draw national attention to ourselves. Just six months later, we converted the site into the Aquatuning Shop.
We placed particular emphasis on the user-friendliness of our Aquatuning Shop and on our principle: All articles (> 99 %) ex stock. This means that the goods are ready for sale in our own warehouses and can be packed and shipped immediately when ordered - there are no detours that drag out the delivery time. The ordered goods usually leave our premises with GLS, DHL or UPS on the same day as the money is received and usually reach our customers the next day. This allows us to keep waiting times to an absolute minimum. If you are in a particular hurry, you can also collect your goods from Aquatuning on site.

Aquatuning: a strong partner for corporate clients as well
Although Aquatuning was originally aimed at private end customers, over time we have also been able to realise some great projects with corporate customers that could not have been achieved on our own. Aquatuning thus became a manufacturer and supplier of products that are now distributed worldwide. One of the few examples of developments we have helped to create is the Alphacool ES Guardian 4Port Powerfan Hub. This is a professional server solution for industrial fans that allows manual control and thus full control. Many other developments are planned and scheduled for the future...
Aquatuning grows - and so does the product range
Thanks to our numerous cooperations, we are now able to sell high-end products as well. Thus, in addition to Alphacool products, Corsair, Phobya, Hailea, Coolermaster, innovatek, Laing, Watercool, Aquacomputer, Noctua, Arctic and be quiet! also found their way onto our shelves. We are proud to be able to continue to offer quality in workmanship and cooling performance, while setting standards in delivery capability, speed and customer service.
In spring 2005, we again decided to move to a larger server to accommodate our growing customer base. At the same time, we completely redesigned our homepage and added features such as different customer groups, incl. excl. VAT, credit card payment, improved invoice processing and much more. In the further course of the year, we also expanded our range to include products from Aquacomputer.
With the decision to become the first water cooling full-range supplier, Aquatuning moved to a completely new building in Bielefeld in 2006. Optimal premises and the very good purchasing conditions made it possible for us to act as a distributor for wholesalers from then on. At the same time, we installed a modern merchandise management system and expanded our range to include products from manufacturers such as Innovatek, Watercool, DangerDen and others.

Aquatuning becomes Aquatuning GmbH
By the end of the year, word had spread to many resellers and computer shops about our concept of "all items (> 99 %) from stock". Consequently, in December 2006 we changed our name to Aquatuning GmbH. The year 2007 brought an unprecedented variety of products. From then on, practically all the world's renowned manufacturers were listed with us and we were able to conclude distributor agreements with many of them. Aquatuning GmbH became Europe's largest water-cooling distributor.
In the further course, we rebuilt our shop system to be able to show our customers online our exact stock levels and delivery dates. This transparent display has brought us a lot of trust and a satisfied clientele. We have continued to steadily expand our product range and have added hoses, connectors, housings and power supplies, among other things, to our range.
Aquatuning.com: The Aquatuning Shop also delivers across the pond
From 2008 onwards, we successfully started our expansion into Europe with the help of domestic partner shops and thus became the market leader for water cooling in Europe in 2009. The next step was our market entry into the USA in the same year, where we made our products available to American customers with our own shop but also through several resellers. Thus, within ten years, a student's idea to cool his own PC with water became the world's leading water cooling specialist.
What the future holds for Aquatuning:
Today, our company headquarters are located within sight of the Teutoburg Forest. We develop, manage and store our wide range of products on an area of 7,000 m2. At Aquatuning GmbH there will continue to be no standstill. We are constantly developing ourselves and our products and will continue to be a reliable, competent partner for end customers as well as for manufacturers and resellers.
